tl;dr We re-wrote the entire codebase that was backing https://ec2instances.info/ - the popular EC2 instance price comparison tool. Its much, much faster.
I'm Co-Founder & CEO of Vantage - we're a cloud cost management tool. We acquired ec2instances.info about four years ago. The site has grown from about 275,000 visitors to nearly 4,000,000 visitors in that time frame. The codebase backing it was...rough. It was over 10 years old and was never meant for this much usage or this much data....AWS has launched a lot of EC2 instances over the years.
As a result, we did a complete re-write. We have a new modern codebase backing the site that makes it blazingly fast compared to its old self.
