Nostalgia would be one reason.
Believing that they should be preserved.
Much was often accomplished with quite little resources m such as memory and CPU.
They often used innovation techniques / design , ie using chips in non standard ways to achieve color video, higher resolution displays or saving data to floppy disks. etc OLder items are often preserved in other areas with associations and clubs , like old radios, old stationary engines etc . I believe such knowledge should be preserved.
I still remember the high of buying a dial up modem and plugging it into the family computer, finding a BBS and dialing in, watching the computer actually connect and talk to someone miles away.
