Silicon Valley, academia, corporate consulting, and startup expat.
Like most big cities, I find there are mostly people who won't try different ideas or take risks like owning their own business.
I'm at megacorp solely to recharge $ and discover solvable problems. The people I work with aren't investible startup material and I'm getting bored of supporting old dead tech. They're doing more reorgs and layoffs, leadership isn't diversifying the product mix or building future cash cows, and they're destroying everything cool about the company in order to please shareholders. I'm ready to bounce.
Last year, a UT kid promoting startup community networking on campus wasn't able to get passers-by excited. That made me sad.
Are there any specific hangouts, events, or MeetUps I should be aware of?
