Long before any LLM becomes useful to people/patients, it will become an indispensable tool for doctors, that are able to usefully evaluate and safely apply the feedback to carefully and specifically posed context. Currently doctors are gaining some value from LLMs but generally it is still small and of limited importance. "Amateur doctors on a keyboard" definitely have a lot to lose next to the possible benefit. Doctors use AI to diagnose and treat, people just to obtain more food for thought to discuss with their doctors while getting a sense of imaginary safety due to a feeling of having total knowledge about their condition.
A cause that needs surgery is readily diagnosed with a Brain MRI. If the doctor didn't order one after symptoms of "balance and slurred speech" then it's not a success of AI but a lethal negligence of the doctor. AI is a substitute for bad doctors not (yet) for good ones.
Material goods became cheap since the 2000s because of the low cost production in developing countries like China and India and services became expensive because of local labor. If the goods where produced locally they would be similarly expensive.
Obviously, the current US government-billionaire mafia openly treats the citizens as immigrants (so they let an immigration authority to act on regular people deep inside the country). They will continue to terrorise and suppress in order to protect their rich privileges. I cannot recall any such situation in a modern developed country.
Greenland is extremely and much more than to any other country important to the US . Close geographical proximity, similarity with and existent experience from Alaska, bridge to sensitive regions of Russia and in the end of the tunnel a rich underground that hardly any other can extract. Ongoing climate improvement play a role, may be definitive. The potential take over is relatively easy (not like Canada): 50000 indigenous people that can be bribed, terrorised, forced or persuaded. Denmark is more like a distant relative than a mother nation. It will be a fascinating scene.
I would immediately file a lawsuit against Google. You have all the documents and will win. Before anything is processed they will return to you with a big sorry/compensation. They are the thiefs.
IPhone production cost in China is between $10 and $30 per item. I believe a factory with US-level wages would not increase its price but it would definitely decrease Apple's profit margin.
This ship has sailed. Economy will not revert back to what it was with wishful thinking. Especially offshoring jobs is the utmost goal of every CEO, even if the wage is one dollar less. This benefits himself and his customers giving no f... for the unemployed.
China is living its 1990's this decade: the boom is starting to wear off. Next comes India which is living its 50's. Next will come Nigeria which is in it's 20's. Offshoring jobs will continue until the end of modern civilisation.
There are many big bosses under the Google CEO that lead hordes of developers to specific targets-to-meet. Eventually they prioritise their bonuses and the individual goals deviate with every iteration. So the quality will diminish continuously.
