I wonder what do they mean by "Hybrid MVP build process" for 70% cost reduction. Does it only refer to a mobile app being non-native or what else could it imply?
I think your problem is not lack of organisation but either lack of action or wanting to do too much at the same time, or both. There are only so many things you can do in a given day/week/month. Hence it's much better to not scatter that time across a wide variety of different activities and just focus on a few key ones.
Having said that, there are always things that pop up that I would ideally like to do at some point. I keep track of these in various lists on my notes app (recently switched to Notion) and sometimes look at those lists when I am at a point where I have the ability or feel ready to start something new.
Having said that also, I believe that good shit sticks anyway.
Had the same idea and got sad you got there faster. But then I looked at the code and realized you did it better than I would have done it so good job!
Me too! I wanted to refresh myself on implementations and expose the JS community to some stuff they may not have been exposed to... TypeScript is still fair game!
Keep in mind that Toptal keeps a significant chunk of that so a developer is left with much less. I am on Toptal platform myself and think that it's most suited for those like me that are from countries with a relatively cheap cost of living.
A bit late to the party, but they don't keep a percentage of your rate. You set your rate and that is what you get paid. Whatever they take as commission is between them and the client.
Great job :) As a front-end dev wanting to improve my design capabilities I was wondering how did you design yours? Did you just use some CSS framework and/or theme? If so, which is it? Looks great!
Ah thank you so much! No I did not use a CSS framework, somehow I still very often give it another shot when designing a new website (this time I decided to give BootstrapVue a chance) but I just really really don't like them (https://hackernoon.com/a-case-against-css-frameworks-bea9a69... <- here is why but not really relevant TBH). To sum up that link, they just get in the way. I do have one golden rule, which I also almost every time try to skip but end up going back to do it anyway which is to design my website upfront in something like Sketch (or Photoshop etc.) because in these applications you are not guided in the direction of what standard HTML looks like/what is easy with CSS, usually this difference is day/night for me. So design wise I build everything from scratch, there is one funny detail though... I am absolutely certain that if I was not using Sketch my designs would look different, I really like the thin gray borders it provides by default, minimize your tools so they don't shape your design but you do!
Hey, thanks for the thorough inspection. I now realize there are several flaws in the implementation that will need fixing. V2 release of the contract will come soon!
