I've been thinking of creating a website to make it much easier to search for used thinkpads and sort by various specs. There used to be a similar website like it for servers that's long shut down.
I am in Mexico City and I learned quite a bit about Santa Muerte. Hard to know how much truth there is in what the locals tell me but supposedly people who live in such dire conditions they feel closer to death than to life pary to Our Lady of Holy Death for protection.
Wikipedia says it is the fastest growing religion in the world.
What a cool project and I really appreciate the way you are emphasizing the foss nature of it.
Have you had any luck using vector maps? I know for the web SDKs, vector maps are finally getting some love for OpenStreetMap, but I'm not sure what the situation is on Android or if something like https://openfreemap.org/ can be used.
I already done much research about it (the same as you've mentioned here) related to OSM vector maps. See:(https://github.com/CompassMB/MBCompass/releases/tag/v1.1.4), for Android, the available map rendering libs like Maplibre-Native are an excellent choice, but obviously, it is a high-level library that adds a huge binary to the APK itself, its usecase doesn't fit for MBCompass at least as of now. But thanks for your valuable suggestion :)
there is a DW channel documentary about Transoceânica (Rio to Lima ) the longest bus route, which I just watched last week. It is 5 episodes but well made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_ODFlqURxY
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good course to take to learn the basics of nutrition. I've done some very very simple ones from my insurance company for a small incentive but looking for something more serious and rooted in current scientific consensus (which I hear is not always so clear when it comes to nutrition).
According to the NYT article[0] "about five million borrowers are in default" which means like 1.5% of the population is about to have 15% of their wages garnished. Seems pretty intense.
in some states they're now allowing to just plug in panels without any permits up to 1.5kw so actually, no. In US specifically it's just lobbying or hurricane safety since panels flying off and creating even more debris is obviously not great.
More US States Are Promoting Balcony Solar - https://cleantechnica.com/2025/12/01/more-us-states-are-prom... - December 1st, 2025 ("Earlier this year, Utah became the first state in the US to pass legislation allowing people to purchase balcony solar equipment. In other states, there are laws on the books that make balcony solar illegal, but according to The Guardian that is about to change. Bills have been introduced in the legislatures in New York and Pennsylvania that would allow people to add balcony solar to their homes. Vermont, Maryland, and New Hampshire are expected to follow soon as well.")
I also don't like typing long messages on my phone that's why I use this keyboard that will do high quality transcriptions via whatever AI provider you want. Much better than siri/google speech to text on device.
I used to use Wispr Flow but did not like the non-local aspect, and having yet another subscription, so I switched to VoiceInk (one-time payment around $30 I think), and with a locally running Parakeet v3 model on my
MacBook, transcription is basically instant. I was previously using it with the local Whisper Turbo 3 which is slightly more accurate and it had a 3-4 second lag, so I was absolutely shocked how fast parakeet v3. The slight drop in accuracy is totally fine when talking to AIs, and I also have a line in my CLAUDE.md that says I am usually dictating and that it should take that into account when interpreting my messages.
