Does anyone know if having Global Accelerator set up would help right now? It's in the list of affected services, I wonder if it's useful in scenarios like this one.

As in opposite to smartwatch

The default Gemfile now bundles Puma in, so yeah it's production ready

Puma is certainly fine as the app server - but normally you'd still have a proxy/load balancer/tls terminator/"ingress server" in front. Something like traefik, nginx, haproxy or caddy.

If (one of the) front-facing servers do regular http caching (a good idea anyway to play nice with rails caching[1])", you can probably "serve" the static assets straight from rails and let your proxy serve them from cache (if you don't have/need a full cdn).

Except the data linked in the article proves the exact opposite?

Sssh, the world is filled with people who just think that if chrome does it, it’s correct, and that if chrome doesn’t do it, it doesn’t matter, and that if a site works in chrome then every other browser is wrong. Completely unlike the old IE developers.

The data shows that it’s a recent and fast change from being the worst to being the best.

It will probably take a few years for Safari to lose the “new IE” reputation it got.

The problem with postgres-backed queues is they can't be used with connection pooling, so your workers are unnecessarily using up DB connections.

I thought that was an ActiveRecord problem. We use MYSQL and have a lot of long-lived connections.

Not sure how it works with MySQL, but with postgres the most common pooling options use transactional mode, which doesn't support LISTEN/NOTIFY.

There are in-app purchases for coins, so I guess that's how?

So cloud hosted Jira is misconfigured?

I would assume they mean “you have not set up your JIRA workflow according to your needs”

Which would be a fairly rubbish take, because when it's my workflow, it's MY WORKFLOW. What they might mean is "I have not set up my workflow according to Jira's needs" which is entirely Jira's problem to solve.

But then the rule could be "one of the payment options needs to be Apple Pay, we take 3% cut".

or let the developer say "Sign up with Apple Pay for 30% more, or go sign up at our website for standard pricing."

43% more if Apple wants a 30% cut.

You can use something like hifiberry or justboom to embed a spotify / airplay compatible amplifier into your speakers: https://www.justboom.co/product/justboom-amp-zero-phat/

I used to live in Tingbjerg, and could witness firsthand how the immigrants abused the welfare there. The laws may seem harsh, but on the other side you have people who take pride in cheating the social security system.

How many, how often? How do you know they abused it? Anecdote, data and so on.
