thank you

Yeah, that's a very egregious and unusual example. That is not representative of what typical tech jobs are like.

Average rent for a 1-bedroom is not a good deal. It's much cheaper to rent a single room in a larger house or apartment.

4500 per month, divided by 4 rooms is $1125/month, not $1200.

You can book the whole house and fill it with friends.

But look, it really doesn't matter if you're paying $1125 or $1200, that has approximately 0 impact on the actual conclusions of this post.

The post which is about living the life you want to live has 0 relevance to the living costs and how you live and who you live with. The fact is that the average people are paying to live in the Bay Area is actually 2-4x what the author is claiming they pay. If you think that has no impact on the conclusion of the post then either you don't or have never lived here or you are delusional.

You inspired me to customize it myself: https://applieddivinitystudies.com/slatestarsubstack/

If you download a chrome extension and paste in the provided styles, you can get a pretty good approximation of the original page!

Several of the extensions you recommended at the end (Adblock Plus, The Great Suspender, LastPass) are widely considered to be compromised

I haven't heard anything about the issues with AdBlock Plus outside places like this, and I have no idea what you've heard about LastPass. I don't know what The Great Suspender is.

You might want to expand on the problems in case this isn't a fluke.

Ack, thanks. I've removed the entire paragraph.
